THE BENEFITS OF LIVING A DISCIPLINED LIFE

My story

While suffering from anemia for over 5 years (2008-2013), an amazing thing happened…my life transformed for the better. I worked closely with a brilliant holistic doctor and diligently followed his instructions, and everything in my life slowly began to change.I learned how creating discipline within my daily life would set me up for a better life later on, a life that is now much more balanced than it ever was before I got sick. I now live within the parameters of discipline I have set for myself, including time management, exercise, better nutrition, meal prepping, home organization, meditation, and daily planning.

Living by ‘the rules”

Each and every one of us has a particular set of “rules” that we must follow if we wish to live a life of balance and fulfillment. The key to it is discovering what our own unique set of rules are. When you can learn to live your life within this special set of rules, in a consistent and disciplined manner, it will become your “new normal”, and as such becomes more and more effortless and automatic over time. Once you see the value of living within a defined construct, it will feel less “restrictive”. You will find instead that it is actually creating freedom in your life…freedom from stress, freedom from fear, freedom from imbalance. The long-term benefits far outweigh the temporary feeling of discomfort.

Start small until it starts to click

Discipline takes a little time to develop, and that’s where a life coach can come in handy. My job is to teach you how to start making small changes, and through accountability, coaching, and homework, we will turn these small changes into big ones. We will work on galvanizing these changes into long-lasting, sustainable habits, and then taking these habits to the next level, This is when you will realize that without these habits, your life will return to imbalance and disarray. This is the moment discipline is born, when a habit goes from being something you just “do because you should” to something you know you “need to do” because you are now putting balance and health and happiness above all else.

Discipline creates freedom

Once you can define discipline as something you need, you will value your health over sugar, you will value your free time more than mindlessly cruising the internet, and you will value how much better you feel after killing it at the gym more than how lazy you can be on the couch watching TV night after night. And the best part is that when you are actually out there doing the things you want and need to be doing, you will no longer feel the stress you now have from not doing them! You will instead feel accomplished and proud of yourself rather than beating yourself up for not getting out there and getting things done! Doesn’t that sound like a lot better way to live??!!
